   As music builds mood, colors also creates mood. It can have profound effect on how we feel both mentally and physically. Each color evokes certain emotions and has an impact on our health.

  We live in a colorful world and surrounded with colors. There is no way to escape it. Yet what do all of them mean?

Why do we call some days as a day gray? Why are an angry mood red, but a sad one blue?

   Colors have a long history of association with moods and those associations are used to determine one's mood and state of mind. By surrounding ourselves with certain colors we can change our feelings.


   This is the most emotionally intense color. When seen we pay all our attention to it. It is the warmest and most energetic color in the spectrum. It stimulates a faster heartbeat, breathing and raise blood pressure. Red is the perfect color to create the feeling of warmth & passion. It is also associates with of love, desire, speed and strength.

   Red is the color most commonly found in national flags. 

   Superstitious people think it frightens the devil.


   It is cheerful sunny and optimistic color. It enhances concentration and speeds metabolism and is often used as a color of warning. It represents sunshine, summer, optimism, joy, hope, happiness, idealism, imagination, gold, philosophy, spirituality and inspiration.


   It is the color of royalty. This color associates with luxury, wealth, and sophistication. It is also feminine and romantic and represents royalty, spirituality, nobility, ceremony, mystery, transformation, wisdom, and enlightenment.

   Leonardo da Vinci believed that the power of meditation increases 10 times when done in a purple light. 

   According to color theory purple in a child's room helps develop the imagination.


   It is a combination of yellow and red. Orange is considered a warm and energy color like red, but to a lesser extent. It symbolizes balance, enthusiasm, vibrancy and flamboyancy.


   It is the most popular decorating color. Green represents nature, environment, health, good luck, renewal, youth. It is

one of most-often cited favorite and the easiest color on the eye. Dark green is masculine, conservative, and implies wealth. When surrounded with green people feel calm, relaxed and refreshed. It can improve vision and has great

healing powers.


   It is the color of the sky, ocean, river, lake and water. It also represents peace, tranquility, calm, stability, harmony, trust, truth, confidence, conservatism, security, cleanliness, order, loyalty and technology.

  Blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. When we see peaceful, tranquil blue our body produces calming chemicals. It brings us sense of calmness, which edges more towards sadness. It can slow the pulse rate, lower body temperature, and reduce appetite.

  People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms. Blue is considered a business color because it reflects reliability.

   But it can also be cold and depressing for some people.


   This is what we see when all colors come together in perfect balance. White reflects light and is considered a summer color. It represents purity, cleanliness, innocence, simplicity, youth, birth, sterility, and marriage. Brides wear white to symbolize innocence and purity.

  This color is popular in decorating and in fashion because it is light, neutral, and goes with everything. A white  knight is a rescuer.


   This is the color of authority and power. It also represents elegance, wealth, sexuality, sophistication, formality, mystery and style. Black is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless.  

  Black can imply submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God.

  This color often stands for secrecy. If a business is "in the black" it is making money.


   This color is abundant in nature and considered as solid and reliable. Men often tend to say that this is their favorite color.


   This is the most romantic color. Pink is more tranquilizing.
